Latest Leaks Reveal Xiaomi Mi 5 Will Have Fingerprint Sensor, Curved Glass Back Like Galaxy Note 5

Rumors of Xiaomi's next flagship mobile phone dubbed the Mi 5 have been doing the rounds in the smartphone market for a few months. A new leaked image of the purported Mi 5 claims that the handset will have a curved glass back similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Xiaomi has not confirmed a launch date for its next flagship smartphone, the Mi 5, but some rumors suggest that the Chinese smartphone maker may show case the phone during an event on Sept. 24.

A Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, user going by the name @KJuma, has leaked an image of the next-generation Mi 5, which shows the back of the device. If the leaked image is to be believed then the Mi 5 will pack in a curved glass at the sides, which is also found on the recently launched Galaxy Note 5.

From the image it seems that the Mi 5 will probably have a metal frame and two speaker cut-outs at the bottom of the device. Chinese publication MobileDad also reports that the Mi 5 will come with a fingerprint scanner.

Xiaomi has not let out any information about the Mi 5 but the handset is expected to sport a 5.7-inch QHD display. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM are said to power the upcoming Mi 5.

Speculations are rife that the Mi 5 will be equipped with a 16MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP selfie camera. The handset is also said to include a USB Type C port.

The Mi 4 is available in 16GB and 64GB on-board storage options and with 3,080mAh battery. Smartphone customers will hope that the Mi 5 will also be available in various internal memory size options and with a bigger battery size.

The Mi 4 has been a successful handset for Xiaomi. In June this year the smartphone maker wrote in a blog that it has sold 10 million units of the Mi 4 globally. To celebrate the occasion Xiaomi also slashed the price of the Mi 4 by Rs. 4,000, or about $59 in India.

It remains to be seen if the Xiaomi Mi 5 is able to appeal to smartphone customers as the Mi 4 did.
