Another Spider-Man Movie Will Drive Emma Thompson To Kill Herself

Are there too many Spider-Man reboots? Actress Emma Thompson seems to think so. She claims that if she sees another Spider-Man movie, she's going to hang herself.

Spider-Man is expected to appear in Captain America: Civil War as a rebooted character, so that may be bad news for the likes of Emma Thompson who are just fed up with the superhero.

"If I see another Spider-Man, I'm going to have to actually hang myself. I can't do it anymore!" Thompson complained.

"They're all marvelous, but how many times can you make this franchise, for crying out loud?"

"After a while, you do get a tiny bit cynical about [superhero movies]. The fact that I know they're going to win out in the end has now slightly interfered with my continuing to go to those movies."

She has a point, you know, and we're sure some fans won't agree, but it is true nonetheless. The new Spider-Man is going to be the third reboot in around 15 years. That's a lot in such a short time frame.

Furthermore, what she had to say about superhero movies is also true. There's no sense of danger in these films, especially the ones from Marvel Studios. The heroes always find a way of winning, and after a time, this gets boring.

Since the beginning, Marvel has been focusing on fun and laughter over great storytelling and great villains. What we are left with are a bunch of movies that get boring real quickly after multiple viewings.

Do you own the DVD for the first and second Avengers movies? How many times have you sat down and watched those films without feeling as if something was missing?

Right now, Marvel has the opportunity to change things with Captain America: Civil War and future films since a rumor claims that Kevin Feige now reports directly to Disney.

Until then, we have to pin our hopes on Deadpool and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to bring more compelling storytelling to the superhero genre.
