One of the most anticipated titles at this year's E3, is Sunset OverDrive. Compared to everything Microsoft showed, this game is the most refreshing title in the whole conference and may be the best original title launching on the Xbox One this year.
Sunset OverDrive at E3 may not have been as grand as expected. And while, Ted Price and Insomniac showed off another splendid game, but nothing was shown of regarding the multiplayer experience that the company has been talking about. While it can be understood that multiplayer is an important aspect of Sunset OverDrive, it was not shown off at the biggest video game related conference of the year.
Nevertheless, Ted Price did mention that multiplayer would hold up to 8 players, though nothing else was revealed. However, the opening scene where Sunset OverDrive took a shot at cover based shooters was notable. It was quite humorous and well done; where a poor soldier got eaten, a clear sign that SunSet OveDrive is a game where continuous movement saves lives.
At the end of the day, Sunset OverDrive seems like a fun experience. The gameplay mechanics looks great in motion as the player swings and jumps from building to building. Gamers in attendance may be wondering how the main character is able to make those huge jumps without special powers or abilities. Well, there's no answer for that apart from the fact that this is an Insomniac game, so one should expect the impossible to happen at all times.
When is Sunset OverDrive release date?
It is not tomorrow, that much is sure. The game is scheduled to hit the Xbox One on October 28, 2014, which is one month after the release of Forza Horizon 2. This should be seen as a testament that in the fourth quarter of 2014, several gamers will go broke, especially those with multiple consoles.
It should be interesting to see what Ted Price and Insomniac game does next after releasing Sunset OverDrive. It can be expected that the game will stay as an Xbox One exclusive for the foreseeable future, and if successful at retail, don't expect the team to create another Xbox One exclusive title ever again, unless Microsoft is willing to pay big.
