After a big patch and in lieu of a major expansion, Turtle Rock Studios' monster-hunting shooter Evolve is on a free weekend for the Xbox One and PC.
The free weekend offers the game in full to players until 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET on Steam and until 12 p.m. PT / 3 p.m. ET on Xbox Live on Sept. 7.
The special event includes all four of the core game's monsters, 19 hunting grounds, five game modes. It also offers 18 hunters, from four classes, and the huge Hunt 2.0 patch that brought gameplay improvements and a new hunter: a trapper who goes by the name Jack.
"To pack a punch, Jack dual wields a pair of pistols, enabling him to reload one pair while firing the other," said Turtle Rock. "To track and trap the Monster, Jack uses a hacked Survey Satellite to locate enemies and his Repulsor gloves to stop the Monster in its tracks."
Yep, Evolve is still a PlayStation 4 game also. Despite sitting out the free weekend, Sony's latest console still reaps a few of the perks to arrive with the free weekend.
Right before the free weekend began, Turtle Rock released Meteor Goliath and made the DLC monster available across all three of the game's platforms. In Turtle Rock's latest take on the infamous Goliath Monster, the beast has been given a new look and a lot more range. Step back!
The monster has buffed its rock throw by setting its projectiles alight with blue flames. It also spits blue flames at a surprising range, according to the devs.
"Meteor Goliath uses his burning 'area off effect,' and increased range to spread residual fire damage across the entire Hunter team, while showcasing a fiery twist on Goliath's abilities," Turtle Rock said.
Meteor Goliath still relies on leap and charge, but both moves have been drawn out in duration. Leap smash also travels further.
Turtle Rock released all of Evolve's DLC in two stages. With the second stage already underway, everything is available now.
