Author Ian Doescher is known for combining Shakespearean prose with the original Star Wars trilogy and prequels in book form (as his titles like The Empire Striketh Back and and one-liners like "O Threepio, o Threepio, wherefore art thou Threepio?" might suggest), but now, he's taken it to another level: an online generator that spews out Star Wars-themed Shakespearean sonnets.
The Star Wars Sonnet Generator, located on Doescher's site, asks the user four questions to construct a personalized 14-line cascade of intergalactic verse: the chosen title of the sonnet, whether the user prefers the trilogy or the prequel (at least in the context of the sonnet composition), if the user would rather the word "heart" be rhymed with "part" or "art" and if the user would rather visit Tatooine or Naboo.
We decided to give it a whirl and tried the Star Wars Sonnet Generator out ourselves. As the website prompts, the "sonnet constructed thyself":
AN ODE TO TECH TIMES
Based on the William Shakespeare Star Wars series by Ian Doescher
When AT-AT walkers threaten presently,
Rememb'ring thee, hence shall my worries jet.
Thy tenderness is my faint soul's trustee,
Thou hast the Force that may my mood reset.
Let us unto Naboo, its shores of green,
In that fond paradise we shall know rest.
I ne'er shall from embrace of true love wean,
I cherish thy devotion, well express'd.
Love, like a blaster shot, doth fire convey,
Love is the new-grown fruit sprung from the heart,
Love is a bounty we both hunt and pay,
Love, like a hero, is a needed part.
Though adversaries 'neath their helmets leer,
Thou hast e'er been my solace, dear.
