LG's got a fancy new smartwatch. It's so fancy, in fact, that the company's not calling it a smartwatch at all. No, this is a "genuine smartpiece." I'm not entirely sure what that means. I assume it's little a smarthwatch, only fancier and, you know, more genuine.
And it is, indeed, a nice looking thing, so far as smartwatches go. Though I have to say, and this is probably directly related to the fact that I visited LG right after visiting Huawei's booth, it's not quite as premium as the whole Urbane branding would have you believe.
It's quite light. Surprisingly so, in fact. I suppose I expected it to weight a bit more given the sizable metallic bezel on the thing. LG does get some points for standardizing the strap size, making the watch compatible with other 22mm bands, which lends it a fair bit of diversity - though in spite of the watch's waterproof build, it would probably look a bit off at the gym.
I feel a bit for LG - the company likely expected to be the talk of the show with its fancy new watch, only to be undercut by Huawei's fancier new watch. But at least there's always the 23-karat gold Urbane Luxe, which will be priced at $1,200.
