Wacom Bamboo Spark Might Excite Technophiles Who Love The Feel Of Pen On Paper

For people who are more comfortable and productive writing down their concepts with pen and paper rather than typing on the keyboard, Wacom - a Japanese company focused on specializing in developing styluses or digital pens - is releasing its Bamboo Spark. With the press of a button, the company says, the smart ballpoint pen will capture the ideas and moving those to the cloud for sharing as well as editing.

Wacom unveiled the new digital notetaking solution, Bamboo Spark, at the IFA show in Germany - along with more updates on its product line.

The pen will let the user jot down his or her notes in a real-ink pen on an A5 paper - measuring 5.83 x 8.27 inches - and will then transfer the writings in its "smart folio" on a smartphone or tablet, using its so-called digital pen technology.

"Whether a busy professional, connected student, or passionate hobbyist, Bamboo Spark goes where you go, giving you the freedom to choose when and how you capture ideas," senior vice president for Wacom's consumer products, Mike Gay, mentioned in a statement. "From note-taking in the classroom to sketching out a home remodeling project, Bamboo Spark provides a simple way to capture your concepts on plain paper and with the push of a button, effortlessly move your ideas to the cloud for editing or sharing."

The company touts the pen combines the traditional ink with the Electro-Magnetic Resonance (EMR) technology, converting the writings into a digital content.

To transfer the written notes into the smartphone or tablet, all the user needs to do is download the Bamboo Spark Android or iOS application and connect the gadget with the smart pen. Upon pairing it with the smartphone or tablet, the user needs to push the button at the folio's center to save his or her work - even when the user is not connected on the Internet. The Wacom Bamboo Spark, the developer says, can save 100 pages of notes.

The device - with a tag price of $159.95 - boasts a battery life of eight hours. It also comes with a USB charger. Ink cartridges are sold at $9.99 - which come in three packs.

The notes will be housed via company's cloud storage service - the Wacom Cloud.

"A Wacom Cloud account opens up all the tools and features of your Bamboo Spark. You can use it to access your notes on different devices and edit them even after they have been saved," reads the product description on its website.
