Sony's Xperia Z5 line, which is all set to be unveiled later this week, is the subject of a leaked two-minute video that reveals some of the features of the upcoming smartphones.
The video appears to be an interview conducted by a journalist from the French website Clubic and a media representative for Sony. In the video, the Sony representative runs through the features for the three new Sony devices, namely the Z5 Compact, the Z5 and the 5.5-inch Z5 Premium.
The language used in the video is French and the details being discussed are not particularly exhaustive, but it eliminates a bit more doubt against the confirmation of a few previously rumored features on the smartphones. Features that were discussed in the video for the Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium include the presence of fingerprint sensors along the sides of the smartphones, 23MP rear-facing cameras with very fast autofocus systems, Sony's traditional waterproofing and the Omnium design.
Possibly the most interesting tidbit that can be noted from the leaked video, however, is that the Z5 Premium will be coming with a 4K screen. When combined with the 4K resolution of the smartphone, which represents about 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, and what is said to be a 5.5-inch screen for the Z5 Premium, the pixel-per-inch figure of the device would come in at around 800. The PPI figure of the Z5 Premium would then be astonishingly high, as the PPI of most of the other flagship smartphones only have about 300 PPI to 400 PPI.
The PPI figure of the Z5 Premium could actually be too high, tech news website Gizmodo noted. However, the Z5 Premium could possibly be positioned of take advantage of the rapidly growing virtual reality industry. If Samsung would be releasing a device that would allow users to strap on the Z5 Premium and use its 4K screen inches from their faces, similar to the Samsung Gear VR, then users would be able to make the most out of the exceedingly high PPI for the smartphone.
Gizmodo noted, however, that as with any rumors and leaked material, the information being presented should be taken with a fistful of salt, as it is always possible that the rumor or material is entirely false.
It will not be long until the specifications and features of Sony's Xperia Z5 line will be revealed though, as the IFA conference where the devices will be unveiled is only a few days away.
