Russell Wilson definitely believes in a higher power. In this case... the higher power of H2O.
In a Rolling Stone feature story, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback claims that Reliant Recovery Water helped him to avoid a possible concussion against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC championship game this past January.
"I banged my head during the Packers game in the playoffs, and the next day I was fine," Wilson told Rolling Stone. "It was the water."
It's important to mention that Wilson is an investor in Reliant Recovery Water – running $3 per bottle and filled with electrolytes and nanobubbles – which, according to some users, helps them recover from workouts quicker. Wilson laid it on thick, even telling the magazine that a Seahawks teammate's knee healed rather miraculously with the help of the beverage.
"Well, we're not saying we have real medical proof," Wilson's agent Mark Rodgers interjected.
But Wilson brushed that notion off and, according to the publication, spoke with an "evangelist's zeal," adding:
"I know it works. Soon you're going to be able to order it straight from Amazon."
Wilson even took to his Twitter account Wednesday to once again reaffirm his belief in the water.
While the mere thought of water helping to prevent a concussion might be far-fetched, it isn't going to stop Wilson from speaking with conviction. As part of the feature piece, Rodgers helped shed light on Wilson's personality.
"I've never seen anyone able to adapt to different situations and groups so quickly," Rodgers said. "He's like a great politician."
And salesman.
