‘Black Ops 3' Beta For Xbox One Botched By Malfunctioning Beta Codes: Here's How To Fix It

Xbox One gamers who were eager to take Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's multiplayer beta for a spin on the Microsoft console were frustrated to find out that the game will not redeem their codes that were supposed to allow them to play.

Treyarch Studios released Black Ops 3's beta for the Xbox One on Wednesday, Aug. 26, following the exclusive beta launch for the PlayStation 4, which wasn't trouble-free either. However, just a few hours after the beta was launched, and after apparently receiving many complaints, Treyarch has confirmed on Twitter that some customers are unable to redeem the beta promo codes they received when they preordered the game.

Microsoft has also announced on the Xbox status page that Black Ops 3 beta is having problems letting some gamers in, but it did not provide an estimated time period during which we can expect an official solution or an explanation as to what may be causing the problem, which simply posts the error message "We couldn't find your code. Try again in a while or contact the developer for more info."

"We are aware that some of you may be experiencing issues redeeming your beta tokens for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," Microsoft says. "We are working closely with our partner to get this resolved ASAP! Thank you for being patient while we work. We'll post another update when more information becomes available."

As expected, many people have taken to Twitter to complain about the latest major kink in Black Ops 3's beta version, although one can say this is exactly what beta versions are for. Still, it helps for the developer to push out a beta that actually lets people play in order for them to be able to test the more important aspects of the game.

And while some people are able to redeem their code, the unredeemable tokens are not the only problem either. A few gamers who were lucky enough to enter their beta promo codes say the game takes up to a good two hours just to download.

Nonetheless, if you are determined to get your dose of Call of Duty right away, there is a temporary fix that many users say seems to be working perfectly. The fix involves changing your location temporarily to Brazil. Some users say doing so prevents them from changing it back again to United States, but only if you change your location on your console. The trick is to make the changes only on Xbox.com and leave the Xbox One's location alone.

To change your location on the Xbox website, go to Xbox.com and navigate to the gray bar at the bottom of the screen, where you can change your country to Brazil. You can then go to Xbox's Brazil website and redeem your Black Ops 3 codes there. Afterwards, you can change your country back to U.S. to prevent any problems from popping up in the future.

The full version of Black Ops 3 is expected to be released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 6.
