The world just got a bit fuzzier. Nintendo just made a huge announcement – the new game Yoshi's Woolly World will be released in North America on Oct. 16 for Wii U, and a new Mega Yarn Yoshi amiibo will also be available in addition to the three smaller sized, but not quite as cuddly, yarn Yoshi amiibo figures.
News of his existence and release were first tweeted by Nintendo of Europe. The Mega Yarn Yoshi will act just like any regular amiibo figure. Simply scan his foot onto the NFC Reader and his “Double Yoshi” ability will activate.
Depending on how many characters you scan into the game, you will have the ability to control more than one Yoshi at once and save your Yoshi patterns into the amiibo's memory.
Yoshi's Woolly World is set to retail at around $49.99, or you can opt to buy the game bundled with a green regular Yarn Yoshi for $59.99. If purchased separately, the regular Yarn Yoshi's, which also come in Pink and Blue variants, will retail for $16.99.
Meanwhile, the Mega Yarn Yoshi, which we are already coveting for ourselves, will only be sold separately from the game and will cost a whopping $39.99 – and it won't be available until Nov. 15 in Europe, and on the 27th for North American Yoshi fans. A whole month after the launch of the game itself.
Sure, he's twice the price of two regular sized Yarn Yoshi amiibos but that darned Nintendo sure knows how to tug at our heartstrings with this one. Who can resist not wanting to own one of those Mega Yarn Yoshi's with his teddy bear-like cuddly appearance?
