An 'Attack On Titan' Game For PlayStation 4 Is Coming From The Creators Of 'Dynasty Warriors'

If Attack on Titan is popular enough to spawn a two-part live action film (which will be coming to America on Sept. 30), then you can bet that the anime will be receiving a video game adaptation as well.

While there have already been a few Attack on Titan games in the form of an amusing fan-made Titan hunting game and an official title for the 3DS available for download from the Nintendo eShop, a newly-revealed Attack on Titan title is coming exclusively to PlayStation consoles in Japan this winter that is looking to tell the story of the show in interactive form.

Better yet, it's coming from Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, better known as the folks behind the seemingly never-ending Dynasty Warriors series. Japanese game magazine Famitsu has all the juicy details, showing off screen shots from the game while also learning more about how the title will play.

According to Tecmo Koei executives Hisashi Koinuma and Tomoyuki Kitamura, the game will place emphasis on the 3D manuevering gear used by Attack on Titan's characters to zip around the battlefield and dispatch enemy Titans at lightning speeds. Tecmo Koei hopes the to make the game's flight controls rewarding for beginners and skilled players alike, as they navigate areas in what the publisher is calling a "tactical hunting game."

Famitsu (via ShonenGameZ) reports that while the game is an adaptation of the anime and manga, the developers want it to stand alone so that players who haven't ever watched or read Attack on Titan will be able to get the full story. Tecmo Koei says the game is roughly 50 percent complete.

Tecmo Koei describing this new title as a "tactical hunting" game makes it sound similar to the fan-made game that hooked more than a few gamers last year. Featuring challenging controls and unforgiving enemies, the game almost required players to work as a team in order to eliminate all the Titans in any given area. If this new game also features a cooperative component, it sounds like it just might capture the intensity, camaraderie and action of the show. Expect more details soon. In the meantime, check out some of the screen shots below.
