For a movie that has been shrouded in mystery for so long, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens has been all over the news this week.
First, Entertainment Weekly revealed that villain Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) would be gracing the Fall Movie Preview issue of the magazine on sale Friday. This also came with an interview with The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams as well as an exclusive look at some new images from the movie.
Lucasfilm released those images in sweet, sweet high-resolution via the official Star Wars Facebook page Thursday. It looks like this release only includes all of the movie stills and set photos that first debuted in EW, with the exception of the photo of Kylo Ren used for the magazine's cover. However, now that Lucasfilm has released them in all their hi-res glory, you can really get all up close and personal with them to see if you can decipher exactly what's going to go down when the movie finally hits theaters on Dec. 18.
Unfortunately, it looks like these photos are going to be the only new images of The Force Awakens we're going to see this week. Though Disney's D23 fan convention is happening right now in Anaheim, Calif. and The Force Awakens will be a part of the studio's live-action films presentation Saturday, a new trailer will not be shown during the event, Abrams told EW in a story published Tuesday. A new trailer for The Force Awakens is expected to drop in the fall, Abrams said.
These hi-res photos, which you can check out below, will just have to keep us entertained until then.
