The clown prince of crime in the upcoming Lego Batman movie may have just found his voice, with Zach Galifianakis reportedly in the final stages of talks to portray the Joker.
Galifianakis will be joining a cast including Will Arnett as Batman himself and Michael Cera, who will appropriately be the voice of Robin.
Other details about the movie have been a little scarce, however, Will Arnett recently revealed that it will find Batman exploring a very important question: can he be happy? It has also been reported that the movie will explore all different Batman eras, including the Christopher Nolan trilogy and the films from Tim Burton.
As far as other personnel for the movie go, Chris McKay will be the film's director. Previously, he served as animation supervisor for The Lego Movie. Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the script for the film and is known for having written scripts for Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, as well as polishing the script for The Fantastic Four.
Galifianakis, of course, has a long list of movie credits. Apart from starring in The Hangover trilogy, he can also be found in films such as The Campaign and Birdman. He also hosts the Internet talk show Between Two Ferns, in which he conducts hilariously awkward interviews with celebrities. Last but not least, Galifianakis is set to star in Baskets, a television show that he is co-producing with Louis C.K.
Lego Batman certainly is shaping up to be an interesting movie, and it will be intriguing to see just what kind of a joker we will see from Galifianakis. Lego Batman will be released in 2017.
