Fresh off a franchise-worst 17-65 record, New York Knicks fans are frustrated and downright disgusted at the current state of the team.
But when a Knicks fan tried to question how much Carmelo Anthony cares about the game and wondered whether he wants to be traded, the Knicks star offered up a scathing response.
"Shows how little you know about me. Staying in NY shows that I do care. If I would have left, what would you have said then? 'Oh, Melos wack for leaving. He turned his back on NY'. FOH. You are stuck with me buddy. Deal with it," Melo wrote in an impromptu question-and-answer session on his Instagram account, as reported by ESPN.
"If you want me gone, I'll personally walk you into the front office so you can plead your case of the Knicks trading me. Hope you have bail money bc they might have you arrested for Disturbing the Peace."
When a different Instagram follower advised Anthony to avoid naysayers and their negativity and "trust the process" being led by Knicks president Phil Jackson, Melo said, "best thing I've heard all day."
Anthony re-upped with the Knicks via a five-year, $124 million contract extension last summer, but had season-ending knee surgery this past February. The Knicks' 2014-15 season imploded with a 17-65 record and there were plenty of rumored reports that Melo was irked by the franchise drafting Kristaps Porzingis in June and would even be open to being traded.
At the least, Knicks fans can be content that Melo sounds fully committed and on board to the Knicks' rebuilding movement. Of course, Knicks fans want that rebuilding to happen sooner than later. Let's see if the Knicks can produce drastic improvements this fall.
