Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus May Have An Ugly QWERTY Keyboard Cover That Costs $66

Samsung has always been known to throw wild things at the wall to see what sticks. Some of those have turned out to be successful, such as its line of big-screen Galaxy Note smartphones, or good-looking, such as the dual-curved display of the Galaxy S6 Edge. However, many other ideas are just downright ugly, such as this full QWERTY keyboard cover that is suddenly rumored to accompany the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus as an optional accessory.

Pretty much everything to know about the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which by its name alone we know to be a bigger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge, is there. Unlike with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, which remained relatively under wraps until their official unveiling, the rumor mill has been abuzz with a multitude of leaks and supply-side reports about the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note 5.

Just last week, we reported the full specs for the Galaxy S6 Edge as leaked by a media outlet from the Far East. The phone's reported 5.5-inch dual-edge display, Exynos 7420 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and 16 MP rear camera look reasonable enough, so we sat back to wait for Samsung's schedule Galaxy Unpacked event for Aug. 13.

So just when we thought the rumor mill has nothing else to offer, Twitter leaker Evan Blass throws a curveball to show us that Samsung may be planning to add a keyboard cover to the mix.

It is easy to dismiss the keyboard cover as a hoax, given just how garish it appears. Moreover, one would question why Samsung would release a keyboard cover for its phablet line five years after the first Galaxy Note was introduced.

From the looks of it, the keyboard can be attached to the bottom of the smartphone to slide up and cover part of the phone's beautiful AMOLED display. Since the picture in Blass' leak shows the UI adjusts upward to accommodate the keyboard, we are guessing that this could be an official Samsung product that customers can purchase as an option instead of a third-party accessory.

Although Blass is not 100 percent accurate with his leaks, he is known as one of the most reliable Twitter leakers around. Also, a Dutch retail website has been spotted with a listing for the keyboard cover, which is priced at 66 euros, or approximately $66, according to GSMInfo (via Android Authority). The retailer says the keyboard will be available in Europe on Aug. 22, just a week after Samsung's upcoming unveiling of the Galaxy S6 Edge. Until then, it is best to take everything with a huge grain of salt.
