Who's the better quarterback — Tom Brady or Peyton Manning? This has been a heated sports debate for well over a decade now.
Arguments for Manning could be built on him being the all-time leader in touchdown passes, while backers of Brady would simply point to his four Super Bowl rings over Manning's one. No matter what side you're on, though, if you ask Brady, there's no debate: he's better by a long shot.
As part of the federal Deflategate lawsuit and subsequent appeal, a candid November 1, 2014 email between Brady and his childhood friend, Kevin Brady, shows exactly what the New England Patriots star thinks of comparisons to Manning.
When his friend sent him a link to a Grantland story, comparing the two QBs and highlighting Manning's decline, Brady replied, "Thanks popa. I've got another 7 or 8 years. He has 2. That's the final chapter. Game on."
Wow, tell them how you really feel, Brady. If it wasn't for the Deflategate probe and Brady's appeal of his four-game suspension, which was upheld, this email wouldn't have been available for the Boston Globe to release. However, now that it has been released, football fans have a better feel for what Brady really thinks about Peyton, not to mention himself.
Having made the comments as a 37-year-old, Brady playing seven or eight more seasons would mean he'd be 44 or 45 at the time of retirement. Really, Tom? That's some confidence.
Perhaps the best part of Brady's comments is that he'll lead his Patriots to Denver to clash with Manning's Broncos on November 29 in Week 12 of this season.
