With just days to go before the Friday premiere of the long-awaited Fantastic Four reboot, Marvel has released a new trailer starring the comics company's first super-hero team — with a cameo by none other than Deadpool.
Everyone's favorite anti-hero hijacks the end of the trailer with a brief intercut and introduction of his own. Donning his customary superhero garb, with an old-school backdrop reminiscent of a Masterpiece Theater set – high leather-backed chair included – he lets fans know that if they go see Fantastic Four in theaters, they'll be able to catch a never-before-seen Deadpool trailer.
The effect of breaking the fourth wall works here as a cheeky nod to the character's authorial stylings, even though Ryan Reynold's voice is clearly dubbed in. Even so — a Deadpool sneak-peek is pretty irresistible, no?
The Fantastic Four reboot, directed by Josh Trank, stars Miles Teller as Richard Reed/Mr. Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Kate Mara as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm/Thing. Here is an official synopsis of the movie:
"A contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save earth from a former friend turned enemy."
