It's not exactly teleportation, but it's a start: scientists have created a futuristic elevator for the home that resembles the elevators on Star Trek's USS Enterprise.
Created by Terry Lifts, a company based out of Knutsford, Cheshire, UK, their domestic elevators are meant to aid members of the disabled community, the elderly and other individuals who might have a difficult time climbing a functional staircase.
The elevator utilizes a complex hydraulic system to transport a maximum of two passengers between floors; this streamlines any major overhauls regarding home construction, doing away with the use of an elevator shaft or floor pit. A wall console controls the operation.
So, maybe it's not on a spaceship, but hey, us Trekkies will take what we can get.
