The latest round of leaked image renders involving the soon-to-be-released iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus reveal that the new devices from Apple will have a slightly thicker build than their predecessors.
The leaked renders, which came from tipsters OnLeaks and uSwitchUK, show that the iPhone 6s will be 7.1 millimeters thick as compared to the current iPhone 6's build of 6.9 millimeters. Likewise, the iPhone 6s Plus is portrayed to measure 7.3 millimeters thick, which is slightly thicker than the current 7.1 millimeters of thickness found in the iPhone 6 Plus.
Rumors also suggest that the new handsets will be equipped with a better front-facing camera that will now feature a flash and will be able to produce images in panorama and slow motion. The rear camera will then be upgraded to reach 12MP, a jump from the current 8MP, and will be equipped with a 4K video recording capacity.
The new camera features were reported a few days ago at Tech Times, which also made mention of the purported design features of the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus based on the leaked images from the French website Nowhereelse.
Although experts had thought that Apple was adding a slight tweak to the design of the upcoming handsets to solve the issue on the protruding camera lens, the leaked images suggest otherwise. Customers should expect to see the same protruding camera when the new iPhone versions become available.
The upcoming iPhone models are said to feature the new iOS 9 software from Apple, and both are expected to be available in Rose Gold, the same hue donned by the Apple Watch.
Apple may have slightly tweaked the build to be a thicker version of the handsets' predecessors to address the bendgate issue surrounding the current flagships.
Other purported features of the upcoming iPhone devices include a faster A9 processor, RAM of 2GB, new NFC chip, new touch display and better voice quality. Apart from the Rose Gold color option, the new iPhones may also come in colors that are familiar to Apple fans. These include Space Gray, Gold and Silver.
Production of the two handsets is already underway, while the launch is slated in September. Rumor has it that Apple might also launch a new iPhone 6c handset, which will be cheaper and more compact than the earlier iPhone 5c.
