No, the latest electric car isn't made by Japan or the U.S. — instead, it hails from the land of James Joyce and charming brogues, aka Ireland.
The brainchild of designer Tom Finnegan and the UK-based manufacturing company Swift Composite Prototypes Ltd., the two seater — christened the Alex eroadster — has a retractable, slightly DoLorean-esque roof and LED lights and is meant to rely on its lightweight design, which extends to its chassis.
Indeed, the comparisons between the Alex eroadster ("the Alex" for short) and the DeLorean aren't entirely accidental; according to a press release issued on the eroadster's website, the car is the first to come out of Ireland since the first prototype of the now-epochal 1980s vehicle, which was first developed near Belfast (thank you, Back to the Future franchise).
The car is set to be powered by two 5 kw/80 kw electric AC motors for accelaration and torque. Additionally, Finnegan predicts that the car will be able to go roughly 150-185 miles before it needs recharging.
