With 11 years in the NFL under his belt, Steven Jackson still feels like he can contribute to a team's offense and he's not waiting for a hot-shot sports agent to make the sell on him, either.
He's doing it himself. The veteran running back took to his Twitter account Thursday afternoon (July 30) to pitch his free-agent services to the Dallas Cowboys with one simple tweet.
Simple, yet effective. If this is getting shared on social media, chances are it will make its way to the desk of the Cowboys...if it hasn't already. Jackson must have done his homework because the Cowboys have had a need to bolster their backfield since losing star running back DeMarco Murray to their NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason. A veteran like Jackson, who could grind out extra yards can't hurt, right?
Jackson, having just turned 32-years-old last week, rushed for an extremely serviceable 707 yards and six touchdowns on 190 carries through 15 games with the Atlanta Falcons last season, showing that he can still churn out yards on the ground and contribute on a high level.
Perhaps the Cowboys should take Jackson up on his offer and assemble a running back by committee between he, Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden. That could actually work well. Let's see if that tweet will get Jackson a new gig.
