Ludhiana is just the second city in Punjab, after Mohali, to get Airtel 4G services. The company also announced that 4G post-paid plans will start at just Rs 100, which is less than $2.

Airtel customers who are currently using iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be able to access the company's 4G services. However, they will have to upgrade to a 4G or a universal SIM. Airtel will also offer the 4G service to other compatible smartphones that include the Xolo LT 900 and LG G2.

"With this roll out, the industrial hub becomes the first city in the country to witness the electrifying internet browsing experience simultaneously on dongles, Wi-Fi CPEs (customer premise equipment/routers) and mobile phones," the company said in a statement.

Airtel is the first telecommunications provider in India to offer 4G LTE services in the country. With the fast 4G services, the company has been able to attract many Internet high-speed savvy customers in India. Airtel has also launched attractive and affordable special monthly packs of Rs 999 for post-paid dongles as well as CPEs.

With the 4G services customers can get download speeds of up to 100 Mbps, depending on a customer's location, when they are on the move. Moreover, the company claims that the 4G download speeds can also reach up to 1 Gbps on a fixed location.

"As a brand, we are committed to enriching the lives of millions and invite our data savvy customers in the city to enjoy this world class data experience which we are offering at unbeatable prices," says Manu Sood, Bharti Airtel (India) hub CEO, Upper North.

The Internet bomb has already exploded in India and millions of customers in the country are using the Internet on a regular basis. However, customers will hope to experience the high-speed 4G services in many other locations in India and will hope that Airtel launches its 4G services in other regions swiftly.
