Google ends patent battle with Apple

Google and Apple decided to end the patent infringement lawsuits against each other, following what appeared to be a three-year litigation going nowhere. Lawsuits for dismissal include patent disputes on Motorola Mobility handset of Google but exclude Apple's case against Samsung that uses the Android software of Google. Google, however, only inherited Motorola's case after it acquired the latter in 2012.

Google Glass gets a new marketing guru

Google has hired on a veteran retail guru, Ivy Ross, to leads its Google Glass strategy, specifically the fashion and wearability aspect. Ross has worked at big names including Mattel, Coach Gap and Bausch & Lomb. The hiring comes within a week of Google putting Glass out for open retail purchase in the U.S. Prior to the retail launch Google ran a one-day sale to boost the ranks of its 'Explorers,' which are beta testers providing stories of how they use Glass.

Google's upcoming I/O Event

Google has finally released the schedule for its Google I/O event, which is just over a month away. There's only one keynote address in this year's event, only accounting for two hours of the entire event, which is said to be much different from last year's schedule.

Right to be forgotten requests flood Google

A doctor, a politician and a pedophile are among hundreds of individuals who have contacted Google to remove links to certain information about themselves in the search results after the highest court in Europe made a sweeping ruling ordering Google to comply with these takedown requests and honor individuals right to privacy.

India goes after Google for alleged anticompetition practices

Google's AdWords program has come under fire after the Competition Commission of India (CCI) initiated a probe stemming from allegations that the termination of an AdWords account of a remote technology support business was made to advance Google's own services in the said area. The CCI is the antitrust agency in India that promotes fair competition for greater good.
