Windows 10 Mobile Build 10166 Now Available To Slow Ring Insiders

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10166 to members of the Fast Ring program on July 10. Now Microsoft has made the build available to members of the Slow Ring Insider program.

The Windows Insider program has a number of rings that include: Canary Ring, Operating System Group (OSG) Ring, Microsoft Ring, Fast Ring and Slow Ring.

People who have enrolled for the Fast Ring program are the first to get the build after Microsoft approves it in the Microsoft Ring. However, the build for the Fast Ring Insiders may have problems and bugs.

Slow Ring Insiders get the build after Fast Ring Insiders but the build is more stable; however, it may still include bugs and issues.

Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider Program, has confirmed via a tweet that Windows 10 mobile build 10166 is now available to Slow Ring Insiders.

Slow Ring Insiders who opt to download build 10166 will see bug fixes and improvements over the last build. Users will also find a bigger battery icon for clearer visibility.

Aul said that build 10166 will include a fix for the bug that causes the lock screen to appear frozen for about 10 minutes even after upgrading. The Windows mobile 10 build 10166 also addresses the phone unlock issue that disallowed users to unlock their handset even after tapping in the correct PIN.

Microsoft announced Windows Insider program in September 2014, which allows users to sign up and get early builds of the operating system for free. In February 2015, Microsoft also used the Insider program to distribute preview of the Windows 10 mobile operating system.

The company has successfully received feedback from users of Fast Ring and Slow Ring Insiders that has helped Microsoft to fix bugs and make improvements. Keeping in mind the benefits of the Insider program Microsoft will continue even after the official release of Windows 10.

The upcoming Windows 10 for PCs is scheduled to release on July 29. Microsoft is yet to confirm the release of the mobile version of Windows 10. However, the company is believed to release the software sometime in September or October this year.
