It is only a matter of days before Motorola unveils what it has up its sleeves for the smartphone market, which means the rumor mill is spinning like crazy about the upcoming handsets the Lenovo-owned company has in store for its July 28 reveal.
The latest reports pertain to a brand new leak coming from multiple sources who have posted similar images of the upcoming third-generation Moto X, which they say will come with a huge screen, as opposed to earlier reports, slim bezels and a fingerprint scanner integrated right into the phone's speakers.
Facebook page Perú Android has posted photos of what appears to be the Moto X (2015), and the phone looks to sport the same design language as its predecessors. Design-wise, it looks like Motorola is keeping the same durable Kevlar coating on the back of the smartphone, coupled with an aluminum frame to increase durability.
However, the phone seems to be larger than the current-generation Moto X, and Perú Android estimates it to be at 5.5 inches, which is in line with earlier reports about the phone's display size. The Facebook page also says the new Moto G will sport a 2K display and a 21 MP rear camera. There is still some hope for users hoping for a smaller version, though, as Perú Android says a 5.2-inch Moto X Sport version with a more rugged build is also in the works.
The same photos were posted by Google+ user Paul Faz. In front, we can see the new Moto X's very slim bezels, which may well account for Motorola being able to integrate the fingerprint sensor into the phone's speakers. If this is true, Motorola would be the first company to find a way to seamlessly integrate the fingerprint sensor without compromising on design, as current smartphones have their sensors included in the home button or at the back of the device.
The rumors also say the new Moto X will have a front-facing LED flash to accompany what is reportedly an 8 MP front camera, which should make it an attractive smartphone to anyone who loves taking selfies.
Earlier reports say the new Moto X will run on either a Snapdragon 810 or Snapdragon 808 chipset from Qualcomm and 4 GB of RAM. It will also come in 32 GB and 64 GB variants and will be powered by a huge 3,280 mAh battery.
Motorola is set to unveil the new Moto X, along with a rumored Moto X Sport, a Moto G and possibly a new Droid Turbo on July 28.
