Expansys' sale price for the Nexus 9 is 15 percent off of the tablet's list price, which is $399. Elsewhere, the tablet goes for much more. Best Buy has the 32GB Nexus 9 listed at $480.

The Nexus 9, built by HTC to Google's specifications, is powered by a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual-core Denver CPU that's clocked at 2.3 GHz. It has 2GB of RAM and this version comes stocked with 32GB of storage space.
On the front of the Nexus 9, there's a 1.6MP camera that's capable of capturing 720p video. And on its back, there's an 8MP camera that capable of capturing 1080p video.
Behind a Gorilla Glass 3 shield, the Nexus 9's 8.9 inch display outputs a resolution of 1536 by 2048. For sound, there's a little HTC flavor with dual front-facing speakers that make use of the manufacturer's HTC BoomSound.

Out of the box, the Nexus 9 runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. But it'll have Android 5.1.1 Lollipop waiting for it when the tablet is ready to run. In addition, the Nexus family should be good to go for a few more years as Google is expected to announce a guarantee of at least two years of support for its Nexus devices. The announcement is expected to be made during the introduction of Android M.
