Web Comic Site 'The Nib' Plans To Release A 300-Page Anthology For Its Second Anniversary

Medium.com's Web comic site, The Nib, announced its plans publish a 300-page comic book anthology that will include its most popular, funniest, most controversial and exclusive comics to celebrate its second anniversary in a new Kickstarter campaign.

After launching in 2013, The Nib has published over 2,000 comics, including political cartoons, journalism, humor and other nonfiction comics.

The hardcover second anniversary anthology, called Eat More Comics: The Best of the Nib, will include 300 pages with some of the best cartoonists that have been featured on the site.

These include political cartoonists: Tom Tomorrow, Jen Sorensen, Matt Lubchansky, Ann Telnaes, Brian McFadden, Liza Donnelly, Ruben Bolling, Ted Rall, Keith Knight and Nib founder and cartoonist Matt Bors.

Journalism comics from artists Andy Warner, Josh Neufeld, Susie Cagle, Emi Gennis, Ryan Alexander-Tanner, Eleri Harris, Erik Thurman, Jess Ruliffson, Sophie Yanow and Roxanne Palmer will also be included in the anthology as well.

Other artists, such as Kate Leth, James Sturm, Shannon Wheeler, Scott Bateman, Eleanor Davis, Maki Naro and John Leavitt, will be featured in the book, as will comic essays by Ron Wimberly, Erika Moen, Sarah Glidden, Wendy MacNaughton, Mike Dawson, Lucy Bellwood, Whit Taylor, Lisa Eisenberg, Eroyn Franklin and JJ McCullough.

"The money we are asking for is for two things," says Eleri Harris, associate editor at The Nib. "Firstly, we are going to compensate all our artists fairly for republishing their work again." The money will also go to cost of printing the big anthology.

The hardcover book will feature exclusive comics that will only be made if the editors reach their $45,000 target. If the team is able to reach more money than their target goal, they will use the extra funds to make more books, and thus compensate their artists even more.

Backers of this Kickstarter campaign will get merchandise and prints from some of the artists that they will only be able to get through the Kickstarter. Those who pledge $10 will receive a PDF digital copy of the anthology, whereas the hardcover physical copy will be sent to those who pledge $35 or more.

Eat More Comics: The Best of the Nib is expected to shipped for delivery September 2015 if they reach their goal.

Thus far, The Nib has raised a little less than $6,000 of its $45,000 goal, with 28 more days to go.
