Marvel Unveils Artwork for Hip-Hop Variant Covers

San Diego Comic-Con is over, but Marvel keeps making announcements. The latest from Marvel might have hip-hop fans freaking out a bit when they get a look at the new variant covers Marvel plans on offering later this year as part of its All-New All-Different Marvel campaign.

Buzzfeed and Uproxx revealed some of the new artwork, which features several hip-hop album covers reimagined as Marvel covers.

Some of the covers include Howard The Duck #1 getting the Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, Invincible Iron Man #1 getting artwork similar to 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' and Ms. Marvel #1 getting artwork like that of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album by Lauryn Hill.

"For years, Marvel Comics and Hip-Hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialog," Marvel EIC Axel Alonso said in a press release, as reported by Buzzfeed. "Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces."

Of course, Spiderman/Deadpool #1 also gets an old school variant cover, inspired by Eric B. And Rakim's Paid In Full.

Marvel plans on releasing a total of 50 hip-hop-inspired variant covers this fall, making those covers something every collector should probably put on their highly valued list.

Last month, Marvel unveiled its list of 45 new titles it plans on launching this year, including new relaunched versions of popular characters, such as Ms. Marvel, Doctor Strange, Spider-Gwen and Amazing Spider-Man. The long list of new comics is also part of the company's "All-New All-Different" Marvel, with these new variant covers. It's likely other promotions of this big event this fall will turn up soon.

Marvel has also followed up their announcement with other titles, including an all new female version of vampire hunter Blade.

The hip-hop variant covers start appearing in stores in October when Marvel launches its new titles.
