Nagged to death? Possible, says Danish researchers

How many times have you argued with your husband since the month began? Several times? You may need to cut down on the arguments if you're not interested in seeing your husband meet an early death. The same thing goes for whiny little children who annoy their father on a regular basis.

This problem usually happens to men who are unemployed, since they are at home on a regular basis, which is a cause for arguments now and again.

The research was published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health. The researched surveyed around 10,000 Danish men and women ranging from ages 36 to 52, and asked about their daily interactions with the people around them. The researchers in their questions dug deep and asked personal questions to help them find the underlying cause of the matter.

As it turns out, 9 percent of the participants claim, they experience high amount of demands from their spouse, while 10 percent claim this demand came from their children. A smaller 6 percent has a demanding family, and 2 percent have demanding friends.

When it came down to conflicts, 6 percent claim they experience conflicts with their spouse on a regular basis, 6 percent with children, 2 percent with family, and 1 percent with friends.

The study tracked the participants over an 11-year period, in which 6 percent of the men and 4 percent of the women died. The cause of death as it turns out is mainly that of cancer, but the other usual suspects also came into play. Heart disease, liver disease, suicide and accidents, to name a few.

"In this study, we found that men were especially vulnerable to frequent worries/demands from their partner, contradicting earlier findings suggesting that women were more vulnerable to stressful social relations," according to authors, Rikke Lund, Charlotte Juul Nilsson, Ulla Christensen, Naja Hulvej Rod and Margit Kriegbaum, who all hail from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

It's an interesting study, one that should not be taken lightly. Our health is always important and should come first in almost every situation. If you believe someone in your life is causing regular arguments, then it is in your best interest to seek help, or risk being taken away by the grim reaper and his pals.
