It looks like bad news for (the apps formerly owned by) Bing: Microsoft has decided to discontinue a bevy of its now-MSN-branded apps over the course of 2015 — keeping in line with the tech company's structural overhaul.
Among the apps being taken out of commission are Travel, Food & Drink, and Health & Fitness. Travel and Food & Drink will end their runs on September 28, and Health & Fitness will discontinue on November 1.
Microsoft has also stated that it will no longer support its PhotoSynth app – a photo-stitching service – but as of yet, no date has been provided regarding its discontinuation.
Core MSN apps like News, Weather, and Sports will remain in operation, and will be available for Windows 10.
Microsoft's revamp doesn't come without a price. Most recently, the company announced a plan to implement 7,800 layoffs – including the removal of more than half of its staffers at Microsoft's Finland office – with more job cuts expected for the 2016 fiscal year.
Despite these setbacks, Microsoft has vowed to retain its commitment to the MSN homepage and to Bing.
