You may recall recent rumors related to a patent that was discovered coming from Cupertino pertaining to a new and improved camera system. The patent possibly sheds light on Apple's upcoming iPhone 6 design and camera potential due to a system it implements called Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
As the readers suggested, the news may only be a big deal to the Apple fan base, because Nokia Lumia phones already have this technology implemented in the cameras' designs called PureView. Its main aim is to eliminate blur and shake that happens when someone holds a camera in their hands while capturing images.
Due to this fact, it may not be surprising to find out that Apple has actually hired one of Nokia's PureView experts, Ari Partinen, a senior Lumia engineer. He tweeted that his new office will be in Cupertino soon.
"Today will be my last day working for the amazing #Lumia family. In June I will start a new chapter in Cupertino, California. Much love!" he tweeted.
Microsoft has acquired Nokia's Devices & Service business September, 2013, which means that it isn't just Apple that sees value in some of what Nokia was doing. Microsoft also saw value in the types of phones Nokia was building on top of the Windows ecosystem and some of the technologies included -- yes, that means cameras. It also means that the technology will live on whether through Microsoft's efforts or now Apple's.
It is interesting to see third-party companies innovate and disrupt a market so heavily that the biggest companies are trying to poach their workers and technologies. It is also good for us as consumers to see what sorts of camera innovations will come next in the mainline series of popular phones.
Either way, more evidence is pointing to the fact that either the iPhone 6 or its successor will implement some sort of an OIS system for image stabilization.
