Treyarch showed off "Shadows of Evil," Call of Duty: Black Ops III's cooperative Zombies mode.
During the San Diego Comic-Con, which runs through the weekend, Treyarch revealed the horde mode and divulged details about Black Ops III's storyline. The multiplayer component is set in the future, while the campaign and co-op is set in the 1940s.
It's the most ambitious Zombies mode the Call of Duty franchise has ever seen, according to Treyarch.
"Shadows of Evil will bring darkness and chaos like never before while delivering a totally unique and highly creative gameplay setting, complete with a mind-blowing experience with a captivating storyline, as well as its own XP progression system," said Treyarch.
In "Shadows of Evil," Heather Graham will star as "The Femme Fatal" and Jeff Goldblum will play "The Magician." Neal McDonough will play "The Cop" and Ron Perlman will take on the role of "The Boxer." Robert Picardo will take on the role of the game's mysterious "Shadow Man," the person pulling the strings in this twisted world.
"Set in the 1940s, four unwitting characters are brought together under mysterious circumstances," said Treyarch. "Unravel the secrets and explore a massive world in the deepest Zombies experience to date."
The action takes place in Morg City, which Treyarch describes as the perfect setting for a noir horror story. The city's theater district, jazz clubs and suspended rail will be open for players to shoot up.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III launches worldwide on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC on Nov. 6. Treyarch will hold a beta period for PS4, while the date for PC and Xbox One testing is yet to be revealed.
Black Ops III's Zombies mode will bring back Der Riese, a past map, as downloadable content.
The collector's edition of the game will include a fully functional minifridge, though maybe it should also include a gumball machine—it makes more sense after watching the video.
