Buh-bye Spotty Wi-Fi: Google Releases Chromecast Adapter With Ethernet Port But It's Already Out Of Stock

Google has launched a new solution to alleviate the Wi-Fi woes of users of the Chromecast media stick: the new Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast, which has struck the right chord with users as it is already sold out online.

While the Chromecast dongle comes with built-in Wi-Fi, which is pertinent for one to stream content on their TV, people often face the problem of weak connections if their router is placed at a distance or if the airwaves are congested. The 2.4GHz N Wi-Fi is not perfect for giving a seamless experience in wireless environments.

Thanks to the new accessory for the original Chromecast, users will be able to have better Internet connections, which means uninterrupted streaming of content on your TV.

The Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast was introduced to the Google Store online on Wednesday, July 8, and the wired Ethernet cable basically connects to the Chromecast to offer a smooth hiccup-free streaming experience. Within a few hours of going online, the accessory sold out quickly due to its easy-to-use appeal.

Users can plug in the ethernet cable to the media stick and go online without Wi-Fi. One has to just plug the cable into the router, attach the accessory to the USB port of the Chromecast dongle with a cable and off you go streaming your favorite content.

Since the Chromecast has a single USB port, the new accessory works like a power adapter. The ethernet adapter's plug segment has a 10/100 ethernet port to attach the cable.

The Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast is available in black and retails for $15, which is not very expensive. However, if you put it in the context of the Google Chromecast's $35 price, then the accessory's pricing sounds a tad steep. Moreover, this price is just for the adapter and you will have to shell out a few more bucks for the ethernet cable as Google does not provide the same.

Currently, it seems that the Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast is available only in the U.S. market. However, if you've been thinking of snagging the adapter, the Google Store still lists the accessory as being "currently out of stock" but it could be back in stock soon as Google may not have envisioned the thumping response for its new product.

To buy the Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast, you can check the Google Store later.
