Admit it: if you've ever played a Mega Man game, you've probably fantasized about what it would be like to wear the protagonist's iconic blue helmet. That dream is about to become a reality.
Capcom is releasing an official wearable helmet that looks just like Mega Man's headgear, the company announced in a blog post Tuesday. The helmet is made out of ABS plastic, has a high-polish finish and even has working red LED lights on the sides so you can really get into character. The helmet opens up with a clamshell hinge, and it has a padded interior.
Capcom's blog post suggests that the helmet could make for the perfect addition to any room, although how could you not be tempted to wear that thing 24/7, even if you don't have the whole house to yourself? You could always make the helmet a part of your cosplay, which seems to be the most sensible use of it anyway. It'll match that life-size Buster replica you probably already own from ThinkGeek anyway.
If it seems a little weird to you that Capcom is finally getting around to releasing a real-live, wearable Mega Man helmet after all these years, it is kind of a mystery as to why it took the company so long. Of course, plenty of Mega Man replica helmets have been made through the years. This is just the first officially released one.
This Mega Man helmet will be on display at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 this week and will be available through Capcom's online store in the future, which will include a "limited time preorder opportunity."
