Ever tried getting a few friends together for lunch or dinner and drinks and something so simple turns into nothing but scattered confusion?
Well, Microsoft's new Tossup app—available on iOS and Android as of Monday (July 6)—hopes to end all that. The new Microsoft Garage project simplifies event planning, hoping people choose this neat option over cluttered email chains or group texts.
Here's how Tossup works. It's essentially quick-paced opinion gathering to get your group to the destination desired without any headaches. One friend will begin the proces by asking where the group wants to go. That's followed by prompts on when to meet and details of a potential place. Your friends cast votes for the destination and Tossup shares the results with everyone. Friends who don't have the app can apply via text. Pretty seamless.
Cast votes can be simple yes or no questions and users also have the option of allowing custom suggestions. With Yelp ratings built in, suggestions—whether by friends or custom—can give each member of the group a better look at the bar or restaurant that's pitched. After the destination is selected, Tossup syncs the time of the event with calendar integration, according to The Verge.
Seems like an organized and quick way to get a group on the same page. Already sounds better than a long email chain with plenty of back-and-forth opinions and changes.
Windows Phone users will be irked to know, however, that Tossup is another Garage app that reportedly doesn't have an accessible version for it yet.
