It's all about the family when Batgirl joins Batman for the first time in the first story-driven add-on to Batman: Arkham Knight. The best news of all, season pass holders get to play Batgirl for free when the DLC becomes available on July 14.
Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) is already known to be a prominent character in Arkham Knight. The wheelchair-bound Gordon is known through her other alias, Oracle. As confirmed by Arkham Knight director Sefton Hill, the identity of Batgirl will indeed be Gordon.
Batgirl: A Matter of Family takes place before the events of Arkham Asylum, the third and final installment of the Batman game trilogy. As a prequel, it will allow players to explore all new missions, side quests and locations and unlock even more of Gotham City's dark, hidden secrets.
According to reports, the add-on will also feature a hacking mechanic to solve puzzles and riddles with, and you can also play with Robin in dual-play functionality for some dynamic duo takedown moves.
The add-on will be made available for players on PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version of the game is still undergoing some major fixes for bugs that crippled it and forced developers to remove the game from Steam and offer refunds. Players of the PC version who have not been plagued with problems will have to be content with an unofficial mod that will allow them to play as Batgirl in free roam mode until the issues can be resolved.
Those who did not purchase a season pass to Arkham Knight may still avail of the Batgirl: A Matter of Family add-on by buying it for $6.99 when it goes on sale on July 21, a week after it is made available to season pass holders.
