The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and Galaxy Tab A 9.7 launched in the U.S. only a couple of months ago but are already getting great discounts.
Hitting the U.S. in early May 2015, the two Galaxy Tab A slates are now more affordable with $30 discounts. The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 launched with a $229.99 price tag, while the larger Galaxy Tab A 9.7 went up to $299.99. With the new price cuts, the 8-inch model is now $199.99, while the 9.7-inch variant drops to $269.99.
The two Galaxy Tab A tablets from Samsung don't come with top-of-the-line specifications, but aim to deliver a good performance at an affordable price point. The slates feature mid-range specs, but should nonetheless provide a decent experience.
The Galaxy Tab A duo share a number of specifications, making them quite similar in terms of hardware. Both feature quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processors under the hood, both come with 1.5GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear cameras, and 2-megapixel front shooters. In terms of internal storage capacity, both models pack 16GB of built-in storage space. Both models are also eligible for 100GB of free OneDrive cloud storage space, courtesy of Microsoft.
The similarities end, however, when it comes to screen size. While both tablets have the same 1024 x 768 pixel resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 features an 8-inch display, while the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 sports a larger 9.7-inch panel.
On the software side, the two Galaxy Tab A slates come with Android Lollipop on board and boast advanced multitasking software features, including Samsung's much-touted Multi Window feature that allows users to simultaneously work on two apps, side by side.
When it comes to available options, both the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 come in three avatars: White, Smoky Titanium, and Smoky Blue. Lastly, it's worth pointing out that while these two models get price cuts, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 version with S Pen retains its initial price tag of $349.99.
It remains unclear at this point when or if Samsung will discount the S Pen-enabled model as well, but for now, interested customers can purchase the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 for $199.99, or buy the larger Galaxy Tab A 9.7 for $269.99. The $30 discounts are part of a limited-time deal set to expire on July 4.
