New games have been released for the Nvidia Shield Android TV, one of which is Half-Life 2: Episode Two following the footsteps of Half-Life 2: Episode One on the Nvidia Shield Tablet and Half-Life 2 and Portal arriving as exclusive titles for the Shield Portable.
Similar to the previous ports of Half-Life games, Half-Life 2: Episode Two is exclusive for Shield devices. Despite the game being released originally in 2007, it is still very fun to play for those that already have done so and a worthy pick-up for those that have not yet tried playing the game. Half-Life 2: Episode Two costs $8 and will take up over 4GB of storage space.
The other titles that are being released for the Nvidia Shield Android TV are Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut, Never Alone and Funk of Titans.
Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut is a platformer and physics-based puzzle hybrid of a game that is similar to Portal. Players guide their characters through a cube-filled world, wherein colored cubes can be controlled using the character's gloves. Gamers that loved Portal should definitely take a look at Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut. The price of the game is $10.
Never Alone, originally released last year for the PC, garnered several awards and was a very popular title. The platformer has players control a child and a fox as they make their way through the frozen tundra, with control of the two characters being switched depending on which one has the skills to go through certain situations. The title, which can be played as a single player or in co-op mode, features stunning visuals and was designed with the Iñupiaq, who are Alaska Native people from whose stories the game drew inspiration from. The price of the game is $15.
Lastly, Funk of Titans is another platformer that puts an unusual twist on Greek mythology. Gamers take on the role of Perseus in what is a standard platformer that would appeal to fans of the genre and the myths that the title bases itself on. The price of the game is $5.
Whether Nvidia Shield will find success in these titles to sway skeptics into believing that Android TV can offer amazing gaming experiences remains to be seen. There are more than 100 titles available through the Shield Hub and more than 200 games available for download through the Google Play store for the Shield.
