Parents are one step closer to having a way to keep their kids out of their booze supply, thanks to this fridge that unlocks via voice command.
Named the Global Beer Fridge, the icebox is the result of a collaboration between the Canadian brewery Molson and Google; the actual contraption itself was built by a company called ThinkingBox.
Activation is pretty simple: the fridge automatically opens after the user repeats the phrase "I am Canadian" in six different languages. This is awkward in two-fold: the activation phrase is obviously a marketing ploy for Molson, and it's a little weird to say if you aren't actually Canadian. (But whatever — I'm fine with it, because beer.)
The Global Beer Fridge will be unveiled on July 1 at the Pan Am games, just in time for Canada Day.
