Sony reportedly filed a trademark application for its product, Breaking Bad, at the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) which has its headquarters located in Europe. The latest filing led to the speculation that a Breaking Bad video game could become available in the near future.
News on the filing was mentioned by Christopher Groux under his tech column on Design & Trend. According to Groux, Sony, which holds the rights to the popular Breaking Bad TV series, filed the purported trademark at the OHIM.
The wording found on the trademark filing created a number of speculations on the series' future digital gaming experiences which could include mobile gaming and poker machines.
"9 Computer gaming software; gaming software that generates or displays wager outcomes of gaming machines, downloadable software in the nature of a mobile application for playing games; operational computer game software sold or leased together with reconfigurable casino and lottery gaming equipment."
Apart from the speculation that the series' gaming version is under the pipeline, the filing also suggests a number of other opportunities that are coming along the way for fans to watch out for. These include the possibility that Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad will relive their roles and do the corresponding voiceover; the possibility that Sony will be flooding Vegas with poker machines that carry the Breaking Bad theme;, the possibility that the speculated game would be LEGO-inspired or GTA-flavored; or even the possibility that the game will be based on a Cooking Mama style game.
The Breaking Bad series went running for five seasons on the AMC TV network where it debuted in January 2008. The cast is made up of Bryan Cranston (Walter White), Anna Gunn (Skyler White), Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman), RJ Mitte (Walter White, Jr.), Dean Norris (Hank Schrader), Betsy Brandt (Marie Schrader), Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman), Laura Fraser (Lydia Rodarte-Quayle), Jesse Plemons (Todd Alquist), and more.
The series became a phenomenal success and has made the network a name to reckon with in terms of playing original scripted TV titles. Some of the awards and recognitions it has received include People's Choice Award, Peabody Awards (2), Golden Globe Awards (2), Primetime Emmy Awards (16) and an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records under the category of being the top rating TV show of all time.
