Jon Snow truthers can now give their brains a little respite, because there is some new Game of Thrones season six information to obsess over.
Just take a gander at the list of directors Game of Thrones is bringing on board for season six of the HBO series, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.
The names include three GoT veterans. Each of the old guard has directed two GoT episodes apiece in previous seasons.
Here is the list:
• Jeremy Podeswa (The Tudors, Boardwalk Empire) • Mark Mylod (Shameless, Entourage) • Miguel Sapochnik (Fringe, True Detective) |
Most notably, Sapochnik was the mastermind behind the 30-minute battle sequence in "Hardhome," the eighth episode of GoT's fifth season; that he has been given the penultimate season six episode to direct can only lead us to wonder what kind of dragon-glassed bloodbath will ensue.
The newbies entering the GoT fold have some pretty nice chops too:
• Jack Bender (who, it must be noted, has a whopping 38 episodes to his name, including Lost) • Dan Sackheim (who, fun fact, was an associate producer on the classic 80's show Miami Vice |
There is a range of talent and genre behind these directors, so it will be interesting to see how they all balance GoT.
Each director has been assigned two episodes to direct concurrently. While this is unusual for most television projects, time constraints, scheduling and travel make this approach the most viable.
