Theater Mix-Up Results In Kids Seeing 'Insidious: Chapter 3' Instead Of 'Inside Out'

Kids and parents ran screaming out of a movie theater in Middletown, Ohio recently when a mix-up in the projection booth showed kids scenes from a horror film, rather than Disney's latest family-friendly offering Inside Out.

After watching previews, the opening scenes did not show kids an animated feature, but horrifying scenes from Insidious: Chapter 3. Even worse, the Insidious sequel opens with images of children being tortured and murdered.

Once they realized what happened, parents quickly gathered up their kids and fled the theater, upset at what their children had just seen.

According to The Journal News, a theater employee accidentally mixed up the two movies and played the PG-13 Insidious: Chapter 3, instead of the PG-rated Inside Out. Apparently, there's a big difference between PG and PG-13.

Parents who attended the theater with their children are obviously upset, worried that the disturbing scenes from Insidious: Chapter 3 might leave an emotional scar. One parent, Jazmyn Moore, reported it to the local newspaper.

Although everyone involved got free movie passes, as well as a free upgrade to watch Inside Out in 3D, Moore feels that the damage is done.

"I got our money back but the damage is already done ... my children are terrified and keep asking questions," Moore said in a post on The Journal News Facebook page.

Mix-ups often happen, but these are two films intended for two very different audiences. Inside Out is a Disney Pixar family friendly movie about a young girl who recently moved cross-country with her family and how she deals with the emotions that come with her new city, house and school.

On the other hand, Insidious: Chapter 3 is a horror film prequel of the Insidious film franchise about a psychic who agrees to user her ability to speak with the dead to help a girl targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.
