Yet another photo of the first-ever Amazon smartphone has popped up on the Internet. This time, the photo is crystal clear and looks like an actual press shot. For the first time, we can finally see what Amazon's infamous smartphone will look like.
In terms of design, the Amazon smartphone looks pretty much like every other smartphone currently on the market. The Amazon smartphone is a black rectangle with rounded edges and a nice, polished metallic bezel around the display that is reminiscent of the Apple iPhone 5S. It features the standard Amazon logo on the back, a pair of speakers on the bottom edge next to the micro USB port and what appears to be two volume buttons next to a power button on the left-hand side.
The front of the device has a slender oval home button at the bottom and a speaker at the top for listening to phone calls. On the back side, there appears to be a camera right next to an LED flash, too. Overall, it's a pretty simple design.
Once again, this photo comes from the BGR's reliable sources. These sources have told the BGR to expect a launch date during the third quarter of 2014. They have also revealed all of the Amazon smartphone's specifications.
The Amazon smartphone will reportedly have a 4.7-inch, 720p HD display and be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The Amazon smartphone will also come with 2GB of RAM, six individual cameras for tracking motion and creating the 3D effect and run a customized version of Android similar to the Fire OS found on Amazon's Kinde Fire tablets.
As previously reported, the Amazon smartphone will largely be controlled by gestures and motion. It will also feature a 3D effect on the display. Additionally, the sources claim that the Amazon smartphone will be available at AT&T with a special cellular data promotion called Prime Data, that will allow customers to access Amazon Prime music and movie streaming for a special monthly price.
At this point, the only thing that isn't known about the Amazon smartphone is its price. It will be interesting to see how much of a premium the 3D effects fetch and if Amazon goes for the mid-range market or tries to target the low-end with a great bargain price. Regardless, the Amazon smartphone will undoubtedly cause quite a stir, if only because it's the first of its kind.
