Look How 'Dying Light' Developer Pokes Fun At Destiny's Red Bull Epic New Quest Ad

Dying Light developer Techland Games tossed rotten vegetables at Activision and Bungie, which have upset gamers by offering exclusive content only for Destiny players who drink Red Bull. Techland is requiring players drink a glass of water—ha, got 'em!

Developer Bungie is preparing to launch Destiny's next expansion pack, namely "The Taken King." The DLC will include three new subclasses, more quests, new armor and new weapons.

"The Taken King" will also feature a special quest that will be available only to North Americans who chug a certain energy drink, thanks to a deal with Red Bull. For those who choose not to use Red Bull to get their wings and those who simply don't live in North America, the news was a hard pill to swallow.

Destiny players, in the U.S. or Canada, will need to procure specially marked cans of Red Bull in order to access the locked quest.

"This epic, new quest is a never-before-seen, multi-stage mission in The Taken King that will test the speed and strategic abilities of Destiny players in new ways," said Bungie in marketing the sponsored content.

Red Bull's Destiny cans also include 30-minute XP boosts. The perk can be chained together, but not stacked.

"Focused Light is a one-time consumable Bonus XP buff which increases all experience gain by 50 percent for a period of 30 minutes," said Bungie. "Each specifically marked can includes a code. Multiple codes can be redeemed, but only one code can be used at a time."

So here's how Techland responded to all of this:

Dying Light players interested in drinking this water beverage can do so now. Those who share images of themselves drinking water will be awarded a code for a premium weapons docket in Dying Light.

Destiny's "The Taken King" is due in September. The specially marked cans of Red Bull will go on sale at 7-11 convenience stores in July, during which time the Focused Light buff can be used.
