HTC has passed through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) an unknown device with FCC ID number NM80PM3100 dated June 22, 2015.
According to recent documentation, the device is an LTE-capable smartphone. Interestingly, the FCC has certified the smartphone HTC 0PM3100 with frequency bands used by U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless, including all compatible CDMA and LTE bands and some GSM bands for roaming.
Consumers have been waiting for a U.S. model of the HTC One M9+, which has been available only in India and other Asian markets. The HTC One M9+ features an octa-core MediaTek processor, 3GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage expandable up to 2 TB via microSD. It also sports a 5.2-inch WQHD display (2560 x 1440) and has a 20-megapixel rear Duo camera with autofocus and sapphire cover lens as well as a wide-angle front-facing camera capable of 1080p video recording.
The HTC One M9+ has Surround Sound and a dynamic equalizer to deliver a richer listening experience. HTC's BoomSound with Dolby Audio allows users to hear more immersive sounds when using the speakers or a pair of headphones.
HTC One M9+ also packs a non-removable 2,840 mAh and, according to the published FCC label, this Bluetooth/Wi-Fi-enabled model will not feature any closed back panel like the HTC One M9+ and other HTC phones released this year.
The FCC sticker describes the model number and FCC ID number and explains how to install a SIM card on the phone. The instructions for the battery and power supplies highly suggest that the handset will have a removable battery and a removable back panel. Users can purchase extra batteries for this handset it they prefer.
No other specific information from the FCC was available to fully identify what this device is, so it's best to wait for Verizon to make an announcement in the coming weeks. With any luck, the carrier will announce the U.S. variant of the HTC One M9+.
