Minecraft has been used regularly to create magnificent things, but never was it used to recreate the map of an entire country. That particular country in question is Denmark.
It is understood that the whole map of Denmark in Minecraft was created by the Danish Geodata Agency. We have to give positive ratings to these people, as creating a whole country block by block in Minecraft, is not an easy task.
According to the two people at the Danish Agency, the Denmark map is made to scale. The creators also hope to see the Minecraft version of Denmark be used by students who want to learn more about urban planning and the environment
Creating such a masterpiece is not an easy task. We understand that over 4,000 blocks were used to create this virtual Denmark, and the download size is over one terabyte.
"We have constructed Denmark online in Minecraft, so that young people can plant their own forests, establish a lake, riding school, biogas plant, wind turbine, and so on," said, Kirsten Brosbøl, Danish Minister for the Environment.
"The imagination is the only the limit. This is our way of making a link between the digital and the natural worlds."
The great thing about this creation is the fact that players can jump in and improve it. So far, players have done a great job in attempting to make virtual Denmark look like the real thing. As time goes by, the virtual world should have almost every building and grass in the perfect spot when compared to the real thing.
The only design problem we have here is the fact that every building has a flat top. We expect players to make improvements to this aspect as times goes by.
Furthermore, players should know that they can go for a walk in this virtual world as if they are in Denmark itself. The journey is quite similar compared to a journey of Denmark through Google Maps Streetview.
