Box For Office Online Lets You Create And Edit Office Docs In The Cloud

Box for Office Online is a newly launched service from Box which has been created to allow users to work on their files in web-based apps without switching from one app to another. It integrates cloud storage functions with Microsoft's productivity tools, enabling users to be more productive at work.

One key feature of the new service is its seamless workflow feature wherein users can easily swap files between Box and Office Online. This includes creating and managing Word docs, PowerPoint presentations and Excel Spreadsheets anywhere and on any device with a browser from within Box.

"Users can work on files in Office Online from Box through a simple 'open with' button," said David Still, VP of products at Box, in a blog post.

This also means that the new service offers full editing capabilities wherein new edits done on a file are automatically saved to Box. No need to even bother with pressing any other button to accomplish the task.

Another key feature of the service is the ability for users to quickly share content and to collaborate easily from the cloud.

"This not only makes working from anywhere more flexible and seamless, it also makes the collaboration process more secure," added Still. He further explains that the added security is achieved since users don't have to download files repeatedly on different machines.

According to Still, almost half of the files that are uploaded onto the Box platform are Office files. What users would normally do is that they would upload these files separately onto Box. Using Box for Office Online makes these steps much shorter and even time-saving which in turn enhances a customer's productivity while at work.

Box also announces that users should expect new features to be added to the service in the not so distant future. By doing so, the company would be able to keep at pace with huge companies that are already in the cloud storage services such as Google for Google Drive, Amazon, and Dropbox.

The company also plans to add more collaborative features by integrating the service with Office users on Windows, Android and iOS.

"At Box, we're focused on building products that works perfectly with all of the tools our customers need to be productive."
