Get off the phone, your car is dead. No problem, you can jump both with same charger

When your smartphone dies it's an annoyance and it's been a relief to know there are am plethora of devices mobile chargers available that will get you up and not-paying-attention-to-anything-but-your-smartphone again in no time.

However, when your car battery dies it's royal you-know-what as you begin the hunt for help getting back on the road.

What if the same portable device that charges your phone could charge tour car? Silly, right?

Perhaps not. So says the makers of the Juno Power Jumpr, a portable charger, roughly the same size of most of the other portable chargers on the market, that delivers 12 volt, 300-amp output from a dedicated port and is powerful enough to jump start your car, yet gentle enough to get you back online too.

For the uninitiated, when it comes to power consumption needs and specifics, the Juno Power website explains the finer details, "If you don't know what that means, our automobiles and motorycles run on 12 Volts, and can sometimes, well, need a little boost - for those times we forgot to turn off the headlights or the days that we didn't close the door shut and the dome lights drained the power."

The device will begin shipping early next month but is currently available on the Jumpr site for $70 and is expected to have with an MSRP of $90 when it is available at retail in June.

And here's a little fact that most people aren't aware of when it come to car batteries - it's not the cold weather that kills car batteries, it's the hot weather.

"Heat kills batteries," explains John Banta, a Consumer Reports project leader and battery-tester for the magazine. "Many times in cold climates your battery fails to start your car on a below-freezing day. The reason this happens is that the heat of the past summers has weakened your battery. When you use it in the cold, the starter requires more electrical current to turn over the cold engine with its thickened oil."

With the summer months fast approaching could a Juno Power Jumpr be in your future?
