Profanity-laced in the middle of a mountainous blizzard with more near-death leap of faiths than we can count...Lara Croft is back, better and badder than ever before.
Crystal Dynamics rolled out with its lengthy trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider, scheduled for a November 10 release on Xbox, during the Microsoft press conference at E3 on Monday.
Stuck in the middle of the mountains during an avalanche, Croft manuevers like only she can, using an axe and pick to survive leaps of faith in several near-death experiences. If there wasn't enough previous evidence that Croft was bad-ass enough, the trailer to her newest title even features a sequence where she stares down a bear. (We bet on Lara to survive that encounter, too).
In some sequences of the trailer, Croft dodges huge chunks of falling ice; in other scenes she gets hit in the face with them or buried in them altogether. Yet, she keeps on ticking. This entire trailer in the icy settings will surely conjure memories of the video game's original title, which also had Croft sticking it out in sub-zero conditions.
It's just that, of course, graphics have come a long way and Croft looks better than ever before. She's also talking more thrash than ever before, throwing around "s***" every now and then during the trailer.
By the looks of this E3 demo, Rise of the Tomb Raider, shouldn't only keep Croft's fans loyal, it should create plenty of younger fans for the popular series as well.
